Sunburn Itch

From the point of view of the psychological and physical tolerance, one can openly admit that sunburn itch is probably the worst kind of itching you'll ever experience. The bad thing is that scratching does not solve the problem, on the contrary, the more you scratch the worse the sunburn itch. And the ordeal can go on for days on end. Even when using a sunscreen you can still be exposed to developing this very nasty symptom similar to a sun allergy. Sometimes, sunburn itch is accompanied by the appearance of some red dots on the skin areas most affected by the sun.

Cold water is most often the best remedy or alleviation factor against sunburn itch. The problem is that when you get out of the shower, the itching is likely to come back. You can either let your skin air dry or gently touch it with a soft towel so that you should not aggravate the irritation even further. Tough nerves is the first key solution to the problem: this means that you need to refrain from scratching, and the itching will decrease in intensity. There are also some natural remedies that could also help you a lot to cope with the sunburn itch: tea tree oil, aloe vera and cortisone creams are among the most popular solutions here.

There are some special remedies for camping sunburn itch and they mostly contain benzacaine, but it is well known that certain products relying on this ingredient are not considered 100% safe by some dermatologists. Therefore, it is better to go for a natural remedy that will bring relief even it is for a short while. Fortunately, an aloe gel for instance can be used without any restrictions whenever you need it, whereas benzacaine has a common usage limitation to maximum three applications per day.

Once you've come to experience sunburn itch it is highly advisable that you no longer go sunbathing for quite some time. The healing process is pretty slow and the sunburn itch will remain for around ten days depending on the severity of the skin damage. The good part is that the itching becomes bearable in a few days and this is the first clear sign that you are healing. In case the skin is very red too, then you must refrain from scratching, since you'll only damage the skin even further without putting a stop to the sunburn itch.
